Colin Rafferty –
Your Memphis Grizzlies will take on the Sacramento Kings tonight inside the Golden 1 Center.
The two teams faced each other earlier on November 21st, an absolute dismantling of the Kings as the Grizz won 137-96. A home game that was a much-needed win for the Grizzlies and have gone 3-1 since.
The Kings come into the game with a 5-15 record and from a 128-119 win over the Jazz on Friday night. It was a full effort from the Kings and were led by Zach LaVine’s 34-point night.
For the Grizzlies, they continued to play hard and won against the Clippers on Friday, despite being down by 13 at the half.
That has been the tale of the last two games, which does not give me great confidence about playing on the road. Regardless, they are winning.
The Grizzlies will need to lean on Zach Edey as his impact cannot be understated he changes the game for them, and the Kings do not have the adequate size to deal with the Big Zamboni.
Zach LaVine and DeMar DeRozan have been playing well for the Kings as of late, the Grizzlies young bucks will need to do their best to stay in front of these guys. Jaylen Wells, Cedric Coward, Vince Williams Jr. should give them enough problems.
The Kings will undoubtably come out trying to make a point that last game was a fluke, but if Zach Edey has anything to say about it, they will have a tough go at it again.
He bullied Ivica Zubac on Friday and seems to be getting into that form those who saw him at Purdue play with. He’s mean and tough, he knows his size and strength is a problem and he’s using it more.
Zubac is seven-feet tall, he has been a problem most times the Grizz have faced him in the past, not anymore. Edey stuffed him into a locker and leaned on the door.
Coach Toumas Iisalo confirmed with Michael Wallace, on November 28th, that Ja Morant will be reevaluated after this 4-game road trip. This is great news, if he comes back healthy, this team could be exciting to watch.
It is almost December and with that, the winds in Memphis have changed to cold Grizzly weather, let’s hope the Beale St. Bears are starting to get comfortable.
Tip-off is at 8 PM CST. You can watch live on the FanDuel Sports Network or listen live on 92.9 FM ESPN or online through Audacy.
