Another year begins as your Memphis Grizzlies get ready for a season opener against the New Orleans Pelicans this Wednesday at the FedEx Forum.

I think it is important to run through the offseason; to highlight some new additions.

The 2025 draft class included Cedric Coward, Javon Small, and Jahmai Mashack (Memphis Hustle).

Cedric Coward, 6’6’ Forward (Washington State), despite coming off a shoulder injury which held him to 6 games last year, he’s defensively sound and can score at all levels. Hopefully another Wazzu guy like Jaylen Wells, who was ecstatic when he was drafted.

Javon Small, 6’3’ Guard (West Virginia), is a scorer and was a solid PG for West Virginia last year. With the injury to Scotty Pippen Jr, we might be seeing more of him a little earlier than expected.

Other new additions to look out for are Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, Ty Jerome, and Jock Landale. Kentavious Caldwell-Pope SG should bring some veteran presence, defense, and corner three. A guy who has been around the league won championships and can help bring up these young guys. Ty Jerome G decided to sign a three-year deal with Memphis and leave Cleveland; I love it. He is efficient and gets to his spots on the floor; he also brings in some defense.

*Side Note: The Rock ‘N’ Roll Hall of Fame should be in Memphis, not Cleveland.*

Jock Landale C is an Australian high energy player and a solid back up big man; with the injuries to Brandon Clarke and Zach Edey he will be getting significant time. At 6’11’ he should be able to set some picks and rolls as well as get after the boards.

Grizz fans also might get some early minutes out of Clemson C, PJ Hall and Utah C, Lawson Lovering in the wake of the big men absences.
