What is The Studio Karaoke?
The Studio Karaoke was built around one simple mission: bring more joy to Memphis through music and shared moments. While Memphis is rich in musical history, The Studio is designed as a fun, unique, and safe space where every Memphian can envision themselves on the stage.
Founder Deidre Ellis put it plainly: the beauty of private suites is that when you close that door, there’s no judgment.
What it’s like inside: private suites, party lighting, and order-from-the-room service

Each of the five suites includes top-quality karaoke technology and party lighting, plus a curated menu of food and beverages that can be ordered from the suite, so you can keep the momentum without bouncing back and forth to a counter.

Meet the founder: Deidre Ellis

Ellis is a White Station High School graduate and a Howard University alumna who studied business administration and marketing. Over 17 years, she built experience across Washington, D.C., San Diego, Los Angeles, and Vermont, then returned to Memphis in 2021 and saw an opportunity to elevate the entertainment landscape with the kind of high-quality experiences she enjoyed in other major cities.
“Memphis is known for its music, but karaoke in public can be intimidating,” said founder Deidre Ellis. “The beauty of private suites is that when you close that door, there’s no judgment — just good vibes, good food, and good drinks!”
The Studio is also a woman-owned, Black-owned, Memphian-owned business.
Grand opening recap: Poplar Plaza ribbon cutting

The Studio Karaoke’s Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting took place on Saturday, February 28, 2026 from 1:00–3:00 PM at 3460 Plaza Ave. The event was billed as family-friendly with light refreshments, activities, tours, and giveaways. The city showed out and was filled with good times and excitement for what’s ahead.
Looking ahead, The Studio also plans to launch a school field trip program that introduces students to Memphis’ musical heritage and highlights the social and mental health benefits of singing.
