Investing in Memphis Communities

In a step forward for neighborhood revitalization, the Memphis and Shelby Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) has announced a commitment of over $1 million to support 13 local developers in building new affordable homes. These homes will rise on vacant lots that have stood empty for years, particularly in underserved areas of Memphis such as Uptown and Binghampton.

From Empty Lots to Family Homes

This initiative will transform dozens of unused parcels into modern, cost-accessible residences. The effort aligns with Memphis’ rich legacy of community-driven change, ensuring families have access to quality housing close to historic landmarks like Beale Street and vibrant local schools. Over time, the addition of these homes is expected to boost local economies and foster stronger neighborhood ties.

Collaboration for a Stronger Future

The homes will be built by a diverse group of 13 developers, showcasing a commitment to local talent and long-term investment in communities. With support from the CRA, these projects hope to address the growing demand for affordable housing while eliminating neighborhood blight.
