Colin Rafferty –

Your Memphis Grizzlies snapped a 5-game losing streak last night, dismantling the Sacramento Kings 137-96.

Woo-hoo! Yes! Thank the Lord!

*whew*

Isaac Hayes would be proud, as the Grizzlies were rocking their new “City Edition” jerseys that honor him and Stax Records. The platinum plus jerseys stamped its spot as a winner.

A full team effort provided the Grizz with a resounding win. They led in teams stats with 49 rebounds, 42 assists, 11 steals, 18 fast break points, and 56 points in the paint. This was all without their star players, Ja Morant and Jaren Jackson Jr.

A relief is what I would call it, the Kings are absolutely atrocious, and the Grizzlies should’ve gotten the win and in convincing fashion.

Now let’s continue the good play add the other pieces and get on a run.

They should have a stretch here in the next few weeks, that will see them play some lesser talent, so maybe this is the sweet spot to stack some wins.

The Forum was great from the tip last night, fans were loud, the team was flying around, and the score was always in favor of the Grizzlies.

It was a good night.

The Grizz were led by Santi Aldama’s epic 29-point, 5 rebound, 3 assists night; boy did he look good, defensively he was much more engaged and was hitting shots from all spots on the floor.

Jock Landale, who has looked better coming off the bench, put up 21 pts and snagged 6 rebounds. When he isn’t called to play 20+ minutes, he can be effective.

Cedric Coward added 19 pts, 4, reb, and 4 assists along with a strong performance by Zach Edey who had 16 pts and 4 rebounds. Both guys are going to be fun to watch for the next few years.

Vince Williams Jr. had another great performance, as the point guard tonight, racking up 15 assists, 4 pts, and 4 rebounds. He mentioned after the game, that he missed some opportunities, against the Spurs, to feed the big man Edey and had made a point to look for him tonight.

G.G. Jackson got some significant time, due to the massive lead, but was still able to grab 9 rebounds and score 6 points. A lot of fans will ask why he isn’t getting more minutes. Well to start, he is still only 20 years-old, crazy, but true; he is also behind guys like Santi, Jaylen, KCP, maybe even Konchar.

We can let him marinate, then deploy him when ready.

For the University of Tennessee fans out there, Jahmai Mashack came in and looked good. He hit a couple of threes and grabbed a pair of rebounds, in 6 minutes of play.

The Grizz need all the help they can get at guard right now, so keep it coming young man.

Jock Landale made sure to tell John Konchar to grab the game ball after the buzzer so that they could give it to Mashack. A nice gesture that shows me that the team is locked in together.

Waking up and being able to recount the game with a smile on my face is much needed. It has been a tough couple of weeks for Grizz fans, but to those who have stayed in the trenches we were rewarded last night.

Let’s not fool ourselves though, there’s a lot to fix, a lot of players to come back, and a lot of games we need to win, to dig ourselves out of this hole.

But for today, wear the bear proud, you’ve got to start somewhere, might as well be now.

The Grizzlies will hit the road for a one game road trip to play the Dallas Mavericks on Saturday. Let’s build some momentum and see where the chips fall.
