Colin Rafferty –

Your Memphis Grizzlies are back at home tonight to take on the Sacramento Kings.

The Kings come into the game with a 3-12 record on the season, right off a loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder yesterday, 113-99.

This is a great opportunity for the Grizzlies to get back on track tonight and get a win. Nothing is guaranteed, but if there is a team worse than the Grizz, it might be the Kings.

They are in the bottom third of points per game, points allowed and point differential. The Grizzlies aren’t much better, unfortunately. Despite that, the Grizz have played better, even without winning.

Both the Cleveland and San Antonio games were right there for the taking and the Grizz faltered. Today could be different.

DeMar DeRozan and Zach Lavine lead this Kings team with help from guys like Damonta Sabonis, Russell Westbrook, Malik Monk and Denis Schroder. This team a few years ago would’ve given the Grizzlies fits, now, I am not sure they have the horses.

It wouldn’t surprise me if the Grizzlies fell to this team, but with the recent play it feels a little different, maybe they have found some rhythm, maybe not.

Regardless, this is an NBA team don’t overlook them. Guys like DeRozan and Schroder have had the Grizzlies number for years. That doesn’t stop with a new team.

Limit the number of turnovers and let the big man Zach Edey do what he has done since hitting the floor, grab rebounds and keep some offensive sets alive.

Word came from the Grizzlies PR team yesterday, that Jaren Jackson Jr. is considered DOUBTFUL with a right-ankle sprain; this is something to monitor, if he does not play. He is considered Day-to-Day.

The Grizzlies will need all the help they can get right now.

They will need another great performance out of Vince Williams Jr and the bench, which has been one of the few things the Grizzlies have this year, a somewhat reliable bench.

Guys like Cam Spencer and Santi Aldama have provided some great minutes, when they are on the floor long enough.

We need Jaylen Wells to get back on track with his shooting, he has been poor to say the least, this year. Once he finds his footing, it will help the Grizz undoubtably, but until then keep shooting young fella.

Iisalo is still tinkering with lineups and rotations, mostly because the Grizzlies can’t stay healthy; in addition to, possibly not being that good at sensing the right times to call time out. Either too late or never.

It’s a rainy day in the Bluff City, so get out to the Forum early. Bring your raincoat and a loud voice to cheer on the Grizz.

The Grizzlies will be wearing their new “City Edition” jersey’s for the first time this year.

They are a salute to the platinum greatness that came out of the Memphis record label Stax and Memphis music legend, Isaac Hayes.

Tip-off is at 7 PM CST, and don’t forget to wear the bear!
