Colin Rafferty –
Off a dark desert highway, Ja flies through the air. Cutting through the middle of the lane, we call 12.
Grizzlies pull out a 114-113 win over the Phoenix Suns. Devin Booker did all he could to try and win the game, but in the end it was 12 who was called and he picked up once again.
Stars for both teams shined as Morant posted 28 pts, 8 reb, 7 assists, Jaren Jackson Jr. added 18 pts, 6 reb, and 3 assists, and Booker with 32 pts, 4 reb, 3 assisits.
Other notable performances from the Grizzlies were from Santi Aldama and Cedric Coward. Aldama was all over the court tonight with 14 pts, 10 reb, 5 assists, and 3 blocks. Coward helped with 14 pts and 4 rebounds.
Cedric continues to be a guy that you can’t help but watch and love. He is aggresive, he can score at all levels, and he is competitor – things you love to see out of a rookie, keep it coming young guy. The city will love you.

Now for some concerning stats:
37 points off of 21 turnovers for the Suns tonight. The Grizz out rebounded, had more assists, and more points in the paint; but it wasn’t without a fight.
Memphis let Phoenix shoot 40.0% from three-point land, this has to be fixed. Open looks and over shading leading to open looks has hurt their opportunities to build distance from teams.
Things got chippy yet again, with techincals being assests to guys on both teams throughout the game.
The biggest bruhaha came in the 3rd after a hard play that got a few of the guys up and talking; Santi Aldama and Grayson Allen were away from the action arguing about the ball that caught the attention of the refs.
But as the time ticked down and the Grizz were trying to hold on to a lead, Memphis with the long distance call was once again answered.
A floater in the middle of the lane with a only 6,7 seconds left hit the bottom of the net.
The Grizzlies forced a long wild shot by Booker that rimmed out and the buzzer sounded.
Some good, some bad, but a win is a win and the Grizz are 3-2. They will head home on a happy flight with a day to prepare for the holiday and the skeleton crew of the Lakers lead by Austin Reeves.
Game on Friday is at 8:30 pm CST. Be sure to look for the preview of the game as we will break down the NBA Cup and answer a few questions that you may have.
