Major Support for Home Plate

The Memphis Restaurant Association has called on the Memphis City Council to approve $5 million in upgrades to AutoZone Park, the vibrant downtown stadium that serves as home to the Memphis Redbirds, the city’s beloved Triple-A baseball team. In a letter sent this week, the hospitality group highlighted the importance of investing in one of downtown’s signature landmarks both for sports fans and for local businesses.

Why AutoZone Park Matters to Memphis

AutoZone Park is more than a baseball diamond. From weekend family outings to sell-out concerts and community events, it draws thousands to the heart of downtown Memphis every season. The Redbirds, top affiliate of the St. Louis Cardinals, continue to pack stands and drive business to nearby restaurants, bars, and shops — a win for the entire city economy.

The Restaurant Association’s Pitch

According to the Action News 5 report, the Memphis Restaurant Association believes the upgrades will enhance the guest experience and keep the downtown area thriving. Improvements to stadium facilities could mean better accessibility, upgraded seating, and expanded event opportunities — generating positive ripples for Memphis hospitality businesses large and small.

What’s Next?

The decision is now in the hands of the Memphis City Council. If you love Redbirds baseball, downtown events, or supporting local eateries, you can follow updates at the City Council page or by visiting the Memphis Redbirds official site. Stay tuned as Memphis works together to build an even stronger downtown hub.

This is Memphis — cheering for local wins on and off the field.
