Big changes are coming to the Memphis Medical District

The old Holiday Inn on Madison Avenue is making way for modern progress. Nearly all demolition work is finished at this well-known address, paving the way for a new University of Tennessee Health Science Center (UTHSC) building that promises to add fresh energy to the area. With construction set to begin soon, the project is marking a shift in the district’s skyline—and Memphis’s future in health care and research.

Making room for innovation

According to The Commercial Appeal, the upcoming UTHSC facility will support both students and researchers, serving as a hub for learning and new discoveries. The development demonstrates Memphis’s continued commitment to advancing the Medical District—a neighborhood already central to life in the Bluff City.

Supporting the Memphis community

This investment is about more than new buildings. The UTHSC project brings jobs, boosts the local economy, and delivers much-needed state-of-the-art resources for health sciences right here in Memphis. As the Medical District grows, expect even more opportunities for families, students, and businesses across our city.
