Colin Rafferty –
Your Memphis Grizzlies have announced that Brandon Clarke, Zach Edey, and Scottie Pippen Jr. will be out for another 4-6 weeks.
Great, this will most likely mean they all will not play the rest of the season.
At some point, how about now, this organization needs to look at themselves in the mirror and look at their medical/training staff. This will be the 3rd or 4th season in a row that the Grizzlies haven’t had a devastating injury or a fully healthy roster.
It is ridiculous, if the intent is to get people back healthy, they have done the absolute worst job in America.
Well, maybe them and the San Francisco 49er’s this year, which some may think is due to the weird electricity plant next to their stadium.
The Grizzlies don’t have that, they have Beale St. and that is only filled with the downtrodden Grizzlies fans who drink their sorrows away as, yet another season comes around and the team isn’t healthy.

Clarke is said to be “progressing well in his rehabilitation,” since he went down on November 20th against the Washington Wizards.
Edey continues to recover and by unanimous recommendations of consulting experts, he will continue offloading and rehabilitation. He will be reevaluated in six weeks.
When he had not been with the team for a little bit and was getting other doctors to look, I knew this was not a good sign.
Pippen Jr. is also stated as progressing well but is expected to return in six weeks.
This is just irritating and painful.
I have said multiple times throughout the season, injuries or not, they get healthy they can be a real tough team to beat.
They cannot get healthy or even stay healthy to even justify thinking that the play-in tournament is even in reach.
This is not looking good, Ja trade talks and now this. They will have plenty to talk about when the ball gets tipped of in Berlin, Germany tomorrow.
I guess the good news is that Ja Morant was seen practicing with the team yesterday and that he spoke with the media.
Nothing crazy was said, but it was one of the first times we had heard from him about the situation at hand.
When asked about the recent trade rumors he said he just has to “live with it” and then responded to whether he would play Thursday he simply said “hopefully.”
He was also asked about the reaction from Memphis fans to which he said, “I didn’t see all of it, I think everybody should be worried about my reaction and not other people’s.”
Ja has been ruled OUT for tomorrows game.
What a gut punch, this stuff is getting out of hand. I cannot imagine how or why the organization can act so callus about a guy that the team and city had dreamed of having. Now for all of this to get blown away in the dust, just seems par for the course.
All the trades, all the guys who they didn’t keep, all the times they told us they were building a team to make a championship run, all of this and now it is time to reset. Lord have mercy.
I don’t want to sound like a downer, but this doesn’t look good for anyone involved.
The Grizzlies will get nothing in return of Ja, if they trade, and they will try to build around young talent, which they’ve proven is good, but not one of them can be the player that Ja is.
Maybe all of this will be figured out at the end of the season, maybe it is before they come back from Europe. Either way the news of this team and the make-up of what is going on outside, is getting out of hand.
I hold onto now a 3% chance that things can work out, but that is more like a 2.566% rounding up makes me feel better.
As the days go by though, it goes down and my hope seems to fade.
Last night I went to see the movie “Is This Thing On” and while I enjoyed the movie, it made me think of how things are going on with the Grizzlies Front Office and Ja.
The story is about a man and a woman who are struggling with the recent acceptance of their marriage failing and they decide to get a divorce. Both parties try to do their best for their kids but find that they were not happy “IN” their marriage, not “WITH” each other.
This is an important distinction I believe; you can be unhappy with the situation that both have caused onto each other, but that doesn’t mean that there isn’t love and care for the other that was built up through living with each other.
Things will go good, things will go bad, but if both parties have each other’s back, they can find the common ground, based on their love, and proceed forward, not letting things get to this boiling point.
Nobody is perfect, nobody will do the best all the time, it is a matter of whether being unhappy with someone is the reason to end things.
Is it the person or the situation?
There have been plenty of women I have dated that I look back and think, well maybe I didn’t see what they did. What it comes down to is that I wasn’t willing to accept that people are flawed, people make mistakes and that perseverance is the true acumen to a relationship.
I am a child of divorce; I have seen how things get ugly before they get anywhere near better. But they do, you learn and hopefully grow.
If this truly is a divorce, I wish I could stop it, but as I learned many years ago, we have no control over the actions of others, even if we feel we are involved.
The Grizzlies will be back in action tomorrow afternoon against the Orlando Magic at 1:00 PM CST and can be found on Prime Video.
