“Who’s the cat that won’t cop out when there’s danger all about?”

Ced!

“Right On.”

Cedric Coward, take a bow. 23 points, 14 rebounds, 5 assists and a game saving block on Kawhi Leonard. He is the genuine article and the Grizzlies are lucky.

Your Memphis Grizzlies took down the Los Angeles Clippers last night 107-98 and improve to 10-13 on the season. Just a few more wins and they will be back at .500 and getting healthy.

This team is going to be fun to watch down the stretch.

It was a fun filled night inside FedEx Forum, as workers got ready for the St. Jude Marathon outside. The crowd was lively and ready to rip the head off the referees early.

A questionable foul call on Jaylen Wells ignited the crowd and that was 2 minutes into the game.

The Clippers did what they have done all year, shoot well in the 1st half and come out with a dud in the 2nd.

They were led by Kawhi Leonard who posted 24 pts, 8 reb, and 4 assists, James Harden put up 18 pts and 7 assists. Harden, who was active in the first half, was a ghost in the second as the Grizzlies were chipping away to take the lead.

The Grizzlies had more rebounds, assists, blocks, fast break points, and dominated points in the paint (60-36). It was a full effort after being down at half by 4.

As mentioned before, Cedric Coward had an amazing night that was capped off with almost every Clippers player coming to share words with him after the game. Apparently, he asked Kawhi Leonard if he could work out with him over the summer, something that all Grizz fans should embrace.

He has shown that he comes alive at home and is comfortable, something he will have work out in away games, but it is truly fun to watch him play.

Cam Spencer, the dog, had 17 pts, 5 reb, and 7 assists, he has quickly edged out his spot at the cookout.

He is fierce, gritty and unapologetically confident, knowing he will put a 3-point dagger in your eye then turn to the crowd and pump them up is something that every person in Memphis loves to see.

Don’t look now, but the Grizzlies might have their swagger back.

Although Zach Edey didn’t have stellar numbers tonight, his presence is always felt on the court. He is moving quicker than people expected on the defensive end and that just comes down to his work ethic. You do not become the back-to-back college player of the year without it.

He has brought that same mentality to the Grizz; go out, prove it, and don’t take shit from anyone.

Jaren Jackson Jr. had an alright game as his scoring struggles continue, he also has to clean up the goofy fouls that he shouldn’t be committing.

Alas, the Grizzlies won and showed some grit last night. The game didn’t come easy but shooting 54% from the field will always give help to a winning effort.

It was a bit concerning  when, with about 3 minutes left, that head coach Iisalo had Santi, Landale, Coward, Spencer, and Vince out on the court, but it worked and that is all we care about.

A Friday night win that was started off with Isaac Hayes’ performance of God Bless America, on the first night of Grizzlies basketball in Memphis November 1st, 2001.

Keep stacking wins against bad teams and before you know it the Grizzlies will be back at .500 with Ja Morant coming back.

Days like today are ones that the city should embrace, the Grizzlies won, the marathon was another success, and the sun is out for everyone to enjoy some football before getting back to the Grindhouse on Sunday.

Live it up Memphis, we got Cedric Coward.
